Abstract
This study was conducted under Tokat ecological conditions during 1993/94, 1994/95 and 1995/96. Fifteen narbonne vetch (Vicia narbonensis L.) lines obtained from ICARDA were used. The results of variance analyses showed that there were statistically significant differences among lines for some characters. The highest seed yield (217.2 kg/da) was produced by the line 2466 and the lowest (144.9 kg/da) by the line 2380. 1000-seed weight ranged between 158.7 and 301.2 g, whereas biological yield ranged between 547.4 and 848.1 kg/da. At the end of this study, it was found that the lines 2466 and 2461 had good performance while the lines 2467 and 2391 were found to be encouraging. Correletion was found between seed yield and biological yield and plant height. 1000-seed weight and pod length, main branch number and pod number were positively correlated. Seed yield was negatively correlated with the number of pods per plant. The results of correlation and path coefficient analysis indicated that biological yield and plant height were significant seed yield determinants for use as primary selection criteria in narbonne vetch breeding.
