Abstract
In this greenhouse study, the effects of irrigation water salinity in relation with the amounts of irrigation water on broccoli yields and mineral contents were investigated. For this purpose, five salinity levels (EC i =0.25-control, 1, 3, 6 and 9 dS/m) and 3 amounts of water (80, 100 and 120% of required water)were used in a factorial experiment in a completely randomized design with 3 replications. The fresh yields, biomass and total ash contents were determined and evaluated. While the yields were affected by both salinity and irrigation water levels, the biomass and total ash contents were affected only by the salinity levels. Significant reduction in broccoli yield occurred above 6 dS/m salinity level, while the biomass yield decreased with the increasing salinity levels. Total ash content, however, increased with increasing salinity levels.
