Abstract

The study area, in Isparta-Pürenova, is covered by a plantation with seven-year-old Anatolian Black Pine Pinus nigra and Lebanon Cedar Cedrus libani trees. In the plantation which is subject to frost damage, there are widely failed planting patches. Since it has known that the fact that the area is a frost hole is the cause for failing with planting, in the study, effects of frost on different parts of the area and on both tree species were observed. For the purpose, several observations and measurings were carried out on transects covered failed areas as well as partly and fully successfull ones. Consequently, by investigating effects of topography-dependent climate on vegetation, required measures against frost damage including choising of correct tree species and using favourable belts of the area were suggested.
