In this study, the effects of surface coating materials on the physical and mechanical properties of particleboard used for kitchen cabinets and surface quality properties were investigated. But, in this part, effects of these on the physical properties on particleboard were investigated. 18 mm thickness particleboard were obtained from four different sources belong to private sector for producing test samples. Coated and varnished veneer , lacquer coating, continious pressure laminate, high pressure laminate and polivinylchloride coating were applied on these samples. The following were recorded during the experiments: Spesific gravity, water absorbtion and thickness swelling. As a result of this study, physical properties of particleboard veneered by single surface coating materials were increased.
