Abstract
The aim of this research is to find out the effects of yeast-ie one of the single cell protein, grown on liquid paraffin media (paprin) to be replaced instead of fish meal for protein quality and quantity. The experiment was designed according to Randomized Plots Design and applied on 3 generations using 72 Swiss Albino Laboratory Mice (12 male and 60 females) consisting 4 main groups with 3 replicates and 6 mice in each replicates. The experimental period of the first generation was 281 days, the second 218 days and the third 99 days. Dietary treatments were 0.0, 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5% paprin and 7.5, 5.0, 2.5, 0.0% fish meal, in the groups respectively. The control group were the one receiving 0.0% paprin and 7.5% fish meal. At the end of the feeding period blood samples of the mice were taken and the erythrocyte, leucocyte, hemoglobin and haematocrit values were determined. In addition, some of the main histopathological observations were carried out in dedecting carcinogenic effects of paprin on muscle tissues and blood corpuscules. Hereby, the effect of single cell protein on the weight gain, feed intake, fertility and growth were also calculated. Due to the results of this research, significant differences depending on the criteria, were realized among the groups (P
