The Effects of Contract Farming on the Diffusion and Adoption of Innovations: With Specific Reference to Tomato Production for Paste Industry in Ege Region in Turkey

Abstract
In agricultural production, market uncertainties have an important effect on decision making. Contract farming is a method that eradicates the uncertainty of price and the sale of products. It is also accepted as an alternative method for the diffusion of innovations and is widely used in many countries. In this paper, the method was examined among the farmers that produce tomato for the paste industr in Ege Region in Turkey. The research findings support the influence that has been found in other studies of the effects of contract farming on innovation.
