Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the changes on yield and yield components in the F1 and F2 generations of dent corn of hybrid and composite varieties. The research was carried out during 1992 and 1993 in Kazova/Tokat condition. Nine single crosses, two three way crosses, one double cross and two composites varieties were used as a material in the trail. Significant differences were found among the varieties for all characters, except single ear yield in 1992. There was also significant difference for all characters between generations in both years. Number of grain/ear, single ear yield, 1000 grain weight and grain yield are decreased significantly in the F2 generation. Important decreases in the F2 have changed depending upon varieties and hybrid types. Generally the highest amount of decrease was found in the single crosses, followed three way cross, double cross and composite varieties.
