Abstract
In forestry, transportation of harvested woods from compartments is very difficult, expensive and time-consuming. Forests covering generally high and steep slopes of mountainous areas in Eastern Black Sea Region make the problem extremely dificult. Studies were conducted on the different test areas of Eastern Black Sea Region. Some tractor types of MB Trac 800 and 900, Steyr 768, Massey Ferguson 165 and 185 had been examined as economical and technical. Time and cost analysis were performed on the skidding roads and for cable hauling operations. Productivity was determined to be 8.336 m3/hour for MB Trac 800, 6.328 m3/hour for MB Trac 900 and 4.382 m3/hour for Steyr 768 for average 50 m hauling distance up to the nearest forest road. Separately, the other data such as cost and productivity were determined. Furthermore, MB Tracs were found very important fro cable hauling up to forest road. In addition, the skidding road length in the region is found to be insufficient.
