Salinity Resistance of Various Wheat Varieties

Abstract
Salinity resistance of six wheat varieties (Gerek, Bolal, Kiraç, Çakmak, Bezostaya and Kiziltan) which were cultivated widely in Turkey was investigated. For this purpose, experimental soil was salinized with 68 mmol/kg NaCl. The salinity response of wheat varieties were compared by means of various plant parameters. According to experimental results, Bezostaya, Bolal and Gerek were seen more susceptible to salinity than the others. Sodium and Cl content of these varieties were found to be lower than that of the others, while K, proline and chlorophyll contents were higher.
