Regression Models for Predicting Bulk Density From Measured Soil Properties

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationships between bulk density and some soil properties, and to develop regression model to estimate bulk density. In this study, generally fine textured 79 soil samples collected from the Erzurum and Daphan Plain were used. Results showed that except silt and lime contents all soil properties gave significant relationships with bulk density (r^2=0.30-0.70). It was determined that bulk density values of soils studied were a function of clay and organic carbon content. In similar soils, therefore, it was suggested that bulk density can be predicted using this two soil properties.
