Abstract

In this study, the growth properties of pike (Esox lucius L., 1758) in Dam Lake Kesikköprü between April 1995 and March 1996 were examined. In the examined samples, the age of females and males ranged from I-V and I-IV respectively. The population was composed of 55 % males and 45' % females. The forked length and weight of females and males varied from 18,7 to 49,4 cm., from 265 to 1100 g, and from 16,5 to 53,0 cm., from 260 to 1140 g., respectively. Age-length and age-weight relations were calculated according to the von Bertalanffy growth equation formula. The following equations were fond for females and males respectively. L_t = 114,76 ( 1 - e ^{- 0, 0746} ( t + 3,3497 ) ) L_t = 145,49 ( 1 - e^{- 0,0561} ( t + 3,3185) ) W_t = 21941,81 ( 1 - e ^{- 0, 0742} ( t +3,3497) ) 3,3647 W_t = 31915,62 ( 1 - e ^{- 0, 0561} ( t + 3,3185 ) ) 3,1016 The following logaritmic equations for length-weight relations were found for females and males, respectively. Log W = - 2,5851 + 3,3647 Log L Log W = - 2,2076 + 3,1016 Log L
