Abstract
In this study, reproduction and feeding of the chub were examined on 432 individuals caught from Akşehir Lake (KONYA) between June 1992 and November 1993. It was determined that both sexes in population attained sexual maturity by the second year of their life and they spawned during the period May - June. Fecundity varied from 9679 to 106227 eggs / females, and it increased with increases in length, age, total weight and gonad weight. The best correlation with fecundity was found to be the weight of fish. It was determined that the mean diameter of ripe eggs changed between 0.86 and 1.48 mm, and the feeding condition was good in the population. The types of food determined in alimentary tract examined were different seasonally. The ratio of feeding on plants was considerably high (83.02 %).
