Abstract
The amount of glycogen and structural variations in the cells of the neural gland, a component of neural complex of Ciona intestinalis, was screened electron microscopically in relation to the daily phases of the gland. In this present work, degeneration and re-organisation of the gland, and the age of the organism were considered to effect the glycogen distribution and was discussed in the light of existing literature. Dispersed glycogen particles and single, double or complex membrane-bounded glycogen deposits were observed in consequence with the physiological phases.
