A note on phthirapteran ectoparasites infesting Yellow-legged Green Pigeon Treron phoenicoptera (Columbiformes: Columbidae)

Abstract

The present report records the simultaneous occurrence of ischnoceran lice Columbicola phoenicopterae and Coloceras setosum on the Yellow-legged Green Pigeon in India. The prevalence, intensity of infestation, range of infestation, and nature of the antennal sensilla of these 2 species on 12 of these pigeons have also been recorded.
