Abstract
This trial was conducted to determine the efficiency of different pond types (earthen, nylon, concrete and gravel) on growth, survival and feed conversion rates in Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). The experiment was designed as four groups with four replicates using 2x1x1 m. ponds. 20 fish were put into each pond and totally 320 fish were used. Well water was used through out the trial and amounted to each pond by 2 l/d. The research was started on 08.05.1994 and ended on 01.03.1995 (151 days). It was concluded that, fish reared in earthen and gravel ponds showed a better performance in terms of live weight gain and feed conversion rate than the fish reared in concrete and nylon ponds. According to organoleptic test results, it was found that fish reared in earthen and gravel ponds gave better taste than that of fish reared in concrete and nylon ponds.
