Abstract
Samples from the duodenum, jejunum and ileum of 6 sheep were taken and fixed in formol saline. Sections from these tissues were used in immunocytochemistry studies. Plasma cells producing IgA in the small intestine were determined with rabbit-anti ovine IgA using immunoperoxidase staining. Cells with brown staining in 10 randomly selected area under microscope were counted using image analyser. Mean cell count of 10 microscope area of duodenum, jejunum and ileum was 43, 53.3 and 74 respectively.
