Abstract
We analyzed the insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism of the angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) gene in 51 male and 55 female healthy subjects from different regions of Turkey. Amplification of genomic DNA using polymerase chain reaction yielded the genotypes II, ID and DD. Alllele frequencies were I=0.41 and D=0.59. Genotype frequencies were II= 0.179, ID = 0.462 and DD = 0.359. This study provides a foundation for ACE gene DD gentotype association studies in the Turkish population.
