Non-linear Behaviour of Passive Q-switch for Neodymium Lasers

Abstract
A solution of BDN_{1} dye dissolved in chlorobenzene showed a nonlinear effect which developed a self focusing when used as a passive Q-switch for a Nd:Yag laser. Our finding revealed an incease in the energy of the output pulse as the dye concentration rises. This is an apposite behaviour to the usual case and is attributed to partial saturation of the dye solution due to its large non-linear coefficient.
