Polaron Effects on the Optical Second-Harmonic Generation in a Quantum Well within an Electric Field
Abstract
Theoretical predictions of polaron effects on the second-harmonic generation due to a resonant intersubband transition in a quantum well within an electric field are presented. The asymmetry of the quantum well due to the electric field accounts for the nonvanishing of the second-order susceptibilities. It is shown that the second-harmonic generation of our model is over 1.80 times larger than that of the model where the electron-phonon interaction is ignored. It is found that the contribution of the interface phonon to the polaron effects on the optical second-harmonic generation in a quantum well with an applied electric field is much larger than that of the confined bulk LO phonon with width L
