Changes Caused by Gibberellic Acid on the Genetic Systems of Maize (Zea mays L.) Seedlings
Abstract
In this study the effect of gibberellic acid on the genetic systems of corn seedlings was investigated. It was observed that GA produced structural changes in the amount of labile DNA in the chromatin. These structural changes caused an increase in the activity of the genetic systems in the cell nuclei. It was found that the rise in the density of the gene transcriptiyon in mitochondria was higher than that in chloroplasts. This indicated that mitochondria have a more important role than chloroplasts in the increaes of the total cellular activity caused by GA.
