Effect of the Radiation and Some Chemical Mutagens (EMS, NaN3) on the Yield and Some Morphological Characters on Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)
Abstract
The effects of EMS, NaN3 and radiation on two-roved-(Quantum) and six-rowed (TY 1976) barley was investigated. It has been determined that two-rowed barley is affected by mutagens more than six-rowed barley. EMS was found to be more effective than NaN3 in terms of obtaining desirable characteristics. Different radiation doses had different degrees of effect on the barley seeds; the 3000-rad doses had more effect than the other doses. Desirable characteristics were obtained in barley radiated with 3000 rads.
