Analysis of Streptomyces taxa by Pyrolysis Mass Spectrometry (PyMS)
A total of fifteen strains of Streptomyces, including five species of S. chromofuscus (cluster 15), five species of S. albus (cluster 16) and five species of S. griseoviridis (cluster 17), were compared by pyrolysis mass spectrometry. The result revealed considerable homogeneity among representative strains of Streptomyces clusters. On the basis of analysis of pyrolysis mass spectrometry data, all test strains were assigned their clusters. Clusters obtained in this study were, with the single exception of teh strain S. griseus, in in accordance with clusters derived in the numeric study by Wiliams et al. (1).
