Abstract

This article has been retracted.

Following concerns raised after publication, the matter was referred to the TÜBİTAK Committee on Research and Publication Ethics (AYEK) for investigation. An Expression of Concern was published while the investigation was ongoing; it was published in the Turkish Journal of Biology, Volume 49, Issue 3, https://journals.tubitak.gov.tr/biology/vol49/iss3/11/.

The investigation has now been concluded. Based on the findings, the project idea and research design underlying the study were used without appropriate attribution or permission. The investigation also determined that a researcher who had contributed to the intellectual foundation of the work—including the development of the research hypothesis and design, and who had served as the principal investigator of the related TÜBİTAK 2247-A project—was not included as an author. TÜBİTAK AYEK determined that these actions constituted breaches of research and publication ethics under Article 9.1.c (Plagiarism/Misappropriation) and Article 9.1.f (Improper Authorship) of the TÜBİTAK Regulation on the Committee on Research and Publication Ethics (AYEK Meeting No. 253).

This retraction has been issued in accordance with the COPE Retraction Guidelines. In view of these findings, the article has been retracted in order to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

This Retraction Notice supersedes the previously published Expression of Concern. The Expression of Concern will remain part of the permanent publication record.

The original article will remain available online for transparency and will be clearly marked as retracted.

This Retraction Notice has been issued by the Editor-in-Chief of the Turkish Journal of Biology, in agreement with TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM as publisher.
