Abstract: The effect of crude extracts, obtained from Aconitum nasutum, Daphne glomerata, Hypericum androsaemum, Laurus nobilis, Nerium oleander, Olea europaea, Prunus laurocerasus, Punica granatum, Rhododendron caucasicum, and Urtica dioica on the replication of Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcNPV) grown in Spodoptera frugiperda cell culture were investigated by observing changes in cytophatic effects, progeny virus concentration and viral protein (polyhedrin) synthesis. We determined an inhibitory effect on cytophatic changes, virus concentration and synthesis of polyhedrin by utilizing the extract of A conitum nasutum, Hypericum androsaemum, Laurus nobilis, Rhododendron caucasicum, and Urtica dioica plants. On the other hand, the effects of Daphne glomerata, Nerium oleander, Olea europaea, Prunus laurocerasus and Punica granatum, extracts on the cytophatic changes and synthesis of polyhedrin were determined to be similar to the control. However, they enhance the virus concentration significantly.
