Multicanonical Simulation of the Hopfield Model

Abstract: Multicanonical ensemble approach to the simulation of frustrated systems under conflicting constraints is briefly introduced [1]. Multicanonical simulations of the Hopfield model [2] of neural networks on moderate size lattices is presented. The energy, entropy and other physical quantities are easily calculable at all tempera\-tures from a single simulation. The phase diagram of the model obtained by approximate mean field calculations [3] is verified at all regions. The superiority of the multicanonical simulations to the usual canonical ones are also dicussed.
